How to Remove a Sender from a Campaign (and What Happens)

Last updated: March 18, 2026

Removing a sender has different effects depending on whether the campaign is inactive (not yet launched) or active (already sending). Use the guidelines below to understand the impact and the correct way to make changes.

1. Deleting a Sender Before Launch

What to Do

Campaign status: Draft / Not Activated

Nothing is sent, so deleting a sender has no downstream effect.

Open Campaign → Settings → Team, and simply un-check (or click the “-” icon next to) the mailbox you want to remove. Save the campaign.

Key point: You can add or remove senders freely while the campaign is still in draft. No prospects are assigned until the first send cycle begins.

2. Deleting a Sender After Launch

What Happens to Leads?

Campaign status: Active / Launched

The campaign engine has already distributed prospects across available mailboxes.

• Prospects already assigned to the removed mailbox are closed out—they will receive no further steps.
• The system will not reassign those prospects to another mailbox.
• Future prospects will only route through the remaining senders.

Important: Removing a sender from an active campaign is irreversible for any lead already tied to that mailbox. Only future leads remain in the sequence.

Need to adjust senders?

  • Draft campaign: Navigate to Campaign → Settings → Team and un-select the mailbox.

  • Active campaign: Decide whether to (a) pause and rearrange, or (b) remove and accept that existing leads will close.
