Handling Existing LinkedIn Connections in Sequences

Last updated: December 11, 2025

When running a LinkedIn sequence, you may occasionally target prospects who are already part of your LinkedIn network. In this case, the connection request step is automatically skipped, and the system moves forward to the next step in your sequence.

For example, if your sequence includes connection request → LinkedIn message → email, the connection request will not be sent if the prospect is already connected with you. Instead, the sequence will continue with the LinkedIn message, followed by the email.

If the prospect is not connected, the connection request will be sent as planned. Once the request is accepted, the next steps in the sequence, such as messages or emails, will follow normally.

If you do not want to take any action on existing LinkedIn connections

If you prefer not to perform any actions toward leads who are already your LinkedIn connections, you can turn on the Skip existing connections toggle.

When this option is enabled, the connection request step will be skipped, and no further LinkedIn actions will be executed for that lead.

Always keep the autoskip option enabled in your sequences for the connection request step. This ensures that if a prospect does not accept your connection request, the campaign will not get stuck at that step. Instead, the sequence will automatically move forward, and the next steps, such as sending an email, will still be performed.
